DAR-TRIO, an ensemble of musicians formed of Dmitri Klimov (piano), Alexander Kalashkov (violin) and Rustam Komachkov (cello) – appeared in 2000.
The ensemble and its story are not quite trivial: after a number of joint concerts the three performers with successful professional careers, all of whom had matured into bright personalities in the world of classical music, decided to form a permanent group. Among the factors, which determined the appearance of the unique trio, were the musicians’ talents of solo-performers and a lucky combination of their very varied creative temperaments, as well as the ability to become equal partners in the process of performance.
The DAR-TRIO concerts have been always marked by the specific atmosphere of live communication with the audience. The trio’s concerts stand out thanks to the specific energy, which allows the performers to breathe a new life into even well-known works. A carefully chosen repertoire, the subtlety of performance, combined with the unique professional mentality – all of this creates a very special aura. During the period of its concert activity the DAR-TRIO has acquired a permanent audience, which faithfully attend the ensemble’s performances.
The trio is characterized by the aspiration to transcend the limits of the traditional trio repertoire – the ensemble is an open system willing to accept various, even the most daring, creative ideas.
Autumn 2001 saw the first album of DAR-TRIO: two CDs with the trios by Schubert. In 2002, a new creation of the ensemble was recorded: the Kaleidoscope collection (original pieces, arrangements and musical fantasies).
This CD, with chef d’euvres by Schostakovich and Sviridov, shows another side of their talents.

Dmitri Klimov is a graduate of P. Messner’s piano class of Moscow Conservatoire. Since 1980 he has been a soloist of Moscow Concert Philharmonic Society. He not only gives solo recitals but also performs with symphony and chamber orchestras, as well as in chamber ensembles with many well-known musicians in different cities of Russia, former USSR countries and abroad.
Dmitri Klimov is a member of the International Scriabin Foundation and the International Association of Piano Duos.
His concerts have been recorded for the Russian Radio and TV, and for foreign radio stations such as the BBC, Radio West etc. In 1996 the Dutch label Ottavo Recordings launched a CD of music by Medtner and Scriabin performed by him.

In 1975, after graduating from the Moscow Central Music College, Alexander Kalashkov studied in the Moscow Conservatoire. His teachers were professors D. Tsyganov and Z. Shikhmursayeva.
Since 1980 he has been a member of the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra. In the 1986 he became the 1st Assistant of the Leader of the Orchestra, then Leader of the Orchestra.
Alexander Kalashkov worked with prominent Russian conductors, such as Gennadi Rozhdestvensky, Yevgeny Svetlanov, Alexander Lazarev, Yuri Simonov.
Lately he has successfully combined the role of the Bolshoi Theatre Leader (the first violin) with the work of the Orchestra leader in other Moscow orchestras (the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, the State Cinematography Orchestra).
Performs as a soloist and a member of different ensembles.

Having graduated from the Moscow Music College named after the Gnesins, Rustam Komachkov became a student of the Moscow Conservatoire, where he studied cello with professor Valentin Feygin. He was a post-graduate student of professor Alexander Melnikov and also studied with Alexander Knyazev.
Rustam Komachkov is a prizewinner of the All-Russia Cellists Competition and All-Russia Competition of Chamber Ensembles. He also got awards of the international competitions in Trapani, Vercelli and Caltanisetta (Italy).
Between 1995 and 1998 he performed in the famous Russian quartet named after Peter Tchaikovsky.
